Wood is a truly miraculous substance. When growing, trees are central to any ecosystem—sequestering carbon dioxide, providing shelter for creatures, cycling rain and ground water, and a host of other essential functions. But when they die, their value is not lost. They can be transformed into fine pieces of furniture, housing structures, boats, or even if they are unsuited for all those, can provide heat when burned.

Saunders & Sons Woodcraft creates handcrafted furniture that honors the ethos of this near magical medium. Every piece we make is rooted in simplicity, refined design, and uncompromising quality. We believe that good design doesn’t scream. Instead, it quietly complements its environment—letting clean lines, solid craftsmanship, and rich, organic textures speak for themselves.

We believe that our current disposable  culture lacks a necessary human element. What the western world has traded in time and cost is an appreciation for quality and craftsmanship that many of us are yearning for today. Our work at S & S Woodcraft is driven by a respect for the raw material and a desire to build furniture that feels both timeless and deeply human. Each piece is thoughtfully made with calloused hands, not mass-produced. Built to last. Built to be lived with. Built to age gracefully. Whether it's a custom table, a one-of-a-kind bed, or another functional piece of art, our goal is always the same: to make something honest, beautiful, and enduring.

A Decade of Craftsmanship

Founded in 2025, Saunders & Sons Woodcraft is the culmination of over a decade of craftsmanship. Dave Saunders, the founder, began his woodworking journey with a simple love for the material—wood in its raw, imperfect, beautiful form. Armed with a few hand-me-down tools, a desire to create began. Each mistake, though frustrating at the time, proved a valuable opportunity to learn. Dave believes there’s something uniquely grounding about working with your hands; shaping something tangible and lasting from natural elements. That satisfaction pulled him from the path of graduate studies and solidified a career change that culminated in the start of Saunders & Sons Woodcraft.

What began as a personal passion, slowly grew into a craft, and from that craft, a calling. We didn’t set out to chase trends or build flashy designs, ok maybe one or two in those early years. But today our endeavor is to create furniture that feels honest—simple forms, clean lines, and attention to every detail. We approach this craft humbly, honoring the late craftsmen that championed these same values.

Over the years, Dave has honed his approach, but this core value is paramount—let the wood speak. Respect its character. Highlight its natural grain. Build pieces that serve a purpose and stand the test of time.  Today we’re proud to share through each piece we make—furniture that’s not just seen, but felt.
